The education programs for high school teachers in Switzerland are in the responsibility of universities. Pedagogical high schools (PH) are only allowed to run such a program in cooperation with a university. Teachers' education in Switzerland is in the domain of each of the 26 cantons. The cantons coordinate their activities in the so-called Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK). The EDK is responsible for accrediting the teacher education programs offered by the universities. |

It depends from the university offering the teacher education program. At our university we offer teacher education in one subject. Students interested in more than one subject need to fulfill additional requirements - they usually have to attend some MSc courses in the second/third... subject. |
